UPL: The Unauthorized Practice of Law

Speaker: Jessica Taylor, JD

Learn how to recognize, avoid & report Unauthorized Practice of Law (UPL)

 

Jessica Taylor is the Director of Boards and Commissions for the Iowa Supreme Court Office of Professional Regulation. Jessica received both her B.A. and her J.D. from the University of Iowa. After law school, Jessica practiced immigration and family law at the Iowa Coalition Against Domestic Violence. She then worked at Iowa Legal Aid as a staff attorney and later as a managing attorney. Her primary areas of practice were family law, farmworker law, and managing the Volunteer Lawyers Project. Jessica joined the Office of Professional Regulation in February 2018.

Jessica has volunteered for a number of non-profit organizations over the years and has served on various boards and committees. In her spare time, she enjoys experiencing all of the wonderful things Des Moines has to offer with her husband and two children.

 

 

 

FEES:  $0 for IPA Members    $15 for Non-Members

COURSE MATERIALS: IPA webinars include the ability to ask questions during the webinar about the topic, view slides of the presentation and have access to a recording of the webinar afterwards.  Attendees will receive handout materials offered during the webinar and a recording of the webinar shortly following the webinar.

CONTINUING LEGAL EDUCATION CREDIT

Within one (1) week after the webinar, attendance will be marked, and an email will be sent with your certificate of attendance. Members will also be able to access their certificate of attendance in the member center of the IPA website under "my event history."   These courses may qualify for mandatory continuing legal education for NALA and the Iowa Judicial Branch Office of Professional Regulation, please look for announcements.
